AN EXPERIENTIAL VOYAGE
It all begins with the sounds of the coffee being roasted, a long inhalation and then the warmth of a cup in your hands. We’ll embark on an relaxing interlude initiated by the aromas that excite you the way only coffee can do. We’ll pause at the edge of your cup to observe the smooth and nutty surface of your drink. We’ll head off through the vast flavors enshrined in the coffee and the beans themselves that arrive from places that activate the imagination, like Chapas, Jamaica, Mount Everest, Mount Kilimanjaro, Rwanda, the Indonesian Islands, and more.
The captains of the ship are Fabio, Alessio e Giulia. They will be your companions on a cultural and tasting journey. They’ll guide you with empathy, experience and professionality on an itinerary created not only with espresso but with numerous other coffee extractions. Each preparation can showcase the unmistakable tastes and aromas of the place where the coffee originated.
We search for single-origin coffees in some of the most unspoiled places on earth.
We find small coffee producers that cultivate their lands according to Fair Trade practices and we utilize artisanal roasting methods to highlight the best qualities of the beans.
We’ll lead you along the roads that leave Ethiopia up into the terraces of Mount Kilimanjaro. We’ll arrive in Indonesia where some of the most prestigious single-origins are produced and where civets eat the cherries of the coffee bean. We’ll fly over the volcanoes of Hawaii to Mexico, where places like Chapas have fought to defend the ‘pacha mama’, or Mother Earth, from the attacks of government and multinationalism. These are all values that Orso strongly supports.
Let’s continue our trip to the bottom of your cup where you’ll find coordinates to everyday oracles from our shaman, shifting your journey into the unconscious through coffee rituals down to your bottom truth reading. You’ll receive advice for what’s to come. This isn’t so much to read the future, since we’re already here, but to cultivate intuitiveness and awareness while accepting inherent truths.
OUR MISSION – HOW ORSO CAME TO BE
Everything started from the desire to give voice to this product, coffee, that oftentimes becomes considered a mere commodity or a banal base ingredient. A product that is accepted as it is without question or regard to its quality. You shoot it down without even tasting it. A mere habit. Something predictable. For us, this isn’t ok. Coffee is a rich and fascinating fruit of Nature full of its own characteristics, cultural but also sensorial, and full of stories and life lived. This is our mission – to contribute to giving voice to coffee while giving our customers the opportunity to experience it for what it really is, a magnificent fruit of Nature to be discovered with all your senses.
Orso Laboratorio Caffè is a project developed in collaboration and friendship with the Italian artisan roaster Giuliano Caffè and FKNB Enterprise, a development group in the food and beverage sector.
THE DEN – WHERE ORSO CAME FROM
The Den, located on Via Berthollet in Turin, was created in collaboration with the restorer Carlo Cavallo, who lent us the place, the wood and his hands.
The tattoo artist Marco “Il Bue” Schiavo expressed our visual concept while creating our logo.
The decorators Veronique and Natalie from Atelier Rendez Vous interpreted our color scheme and interior design elements.
Ico and Stefania gave us their “illuminating” advice.
And lastly, Maria Elektra Strachini collaborated with us from the beginning and contributed to the creative direction and coordination throughout the project until its final realization.
